live from new york it's...

me! well, it was.

I went to NYC for the first time this week for work...had a great first experience there. Wished Sarah and Nora-bug could have come along. It's not the same walking through Central Park in Autumn with a male co-worker...I went to an advertising show called Ad-Tech and met a bunch of prospective clients as well as current clients. All-in-all, very productive.

Favorite meal: a little hole in the wall down in greenwich village Po Restaurant, authentic Italian. Bar-none, the best Italian i've ever had. super duper good, I would recommend to anyone, although slightly on the pricey side (or maybe all of NYC is that way and I just wasn't used to it...) I had the pumpkin ravioli special (anna you would have died. it was pure pasta candy), cider brined pork tenderloin with cabbage and apple, and then apple tart with vanilla gelato. grazi, po.

I took some pictures on my phone of some of the things around as I walked Manhattan. for a first timer I was kinda squirmy with excitement. The city has a buzz...I walked around one afternoon and saw the ground zero, 5th ave, nbc studios, rockafeller center, the chrystler building, grand central station, the empire state building (which I decided to take a self guided tour of, half expecting to see sarah there and have our own romantic sleepless in seattle moment... i didn't. but did bump into twitch at the top. he's doing well).

Oh, and I was at time square when Obama was announced as the next president, and people were going nutso. A bajillion people, lots of horns honking, people yelling, smoke, and way too much cologne from the guy in front of me, but still, how often do you get to be in time square when a president is announced (and the first african american at that)? Lots of energy and red bull.

taxi drivers wer on a mission to kill me. i think my average speed was 80 mph in between lights, then they'd slam on the brakes and try to maneuver into the next lane at the last minute, only to be stopped at the light in between lanes. this genius move made us friends with many another cab drivers, who would obviously then yell some type of non-english profanity at us. i know it, i just know it...by the veins on the side of their heads, i know it. quite a thrill.

saying all of that, it's good to be back home (and see that prop 8 passed)!

What an amazing trip!!! Time-square looked crazy mad on tv, I can't believe you were there and came out alive. And you met up with twitch, did he do a leg lift for you. Ahhw, how sweet. And I hear you on the taxi driver thingy. It's like nascar, but with lights and pedistrians.

Taking a bite out of the Big Apple eh?

Isn't it weird how non-scary that place is?

When I went for the first time, I was totally thinking it would be more like Ninja Turtles, the movie.
