In return, I will give you my few favorite eating spots. Here's what I like:
- Habana in Costa Mesa (at the Lab): 2930 Bristol St. . . . this is probably my most pricey pick, but it's worth it. Very good cuban food.
- Fuji's Famous Burger: 15885 Gothard Street Huntington Beach. Cheap and super tasty. My favorite is the teriyaki chicken sandwich, but you have to get it on Armenian bread.
- Royal Thai: 4001 W. Pacific Coast Hwy. in Newport Beach
- Lucille's BBQ: 4828 E. 2nd St. Long Beach (but it's a chain, so there are many locations). We love our bar-b-que

Sara, I agree with you on the food situation in HB. We struggle. I heard Habana was good.
We love Chronic Tacos on 328 11th Street in HB

Open Sesame on 2nd street in Long Beach for great Lebanese/Mediterranean food.
Oh and more yummy Cuban food in old town Orange at Felix's, but I might be giving you too far of locations now.
Alas, Huntington Beach is a let down when it comes to dining. But wait, have you tried Basilicos in HB? You have to if you haven't already. Best Italian hole in the wall.
Phew...
Ooo, you guys are really coming through. !Gracias! I can't wait to try every single one on this list.
most of the places i knew and love growing up are in north orange county, and i don't know if that's a little far for you. also, now that i think about it, most of them are dives in slightly questionable neighborhoods. but here's a couple right off the top of my head.
luigi's on state college in anaheim is hands-down my favorite italian restaurant of all time. it was started by luigi and his brother when they came over from the old country. the fettucini alfredo with chicken and artichoke was to die for.
johnny reb's has fantastic soul food. it started in long beach, but they have locations all over southern california now.
I love aloha grill on main in HB. The blackened ahi (that's not how you spell it) sandwich and wontons with mango salsa is good.
And fiesta grill, i think it's on pecan or something in downtown HB it's the little place between the liquor store and laundry mat. Marc and I always loved to go there. I like the veggie wet and marc the chimichanga.
La breezes or los breezes (I can't remember) does an awesome saturday brunch. They're on PHC.
Oh and The Red Wolf on Imperial Hwy, next to a grocery store is fabulous mongolian BBQ.
Wanted to add C & O trattoria in Venice Beach. Yummy garlic rolls, they also pass out sheets with words to songs and the whole resturant sings, kinda fun, eatting on the patio is nice atmosphere too.
sarah
bill and i just eat at this place called JAQU'S it's in the shopping center with taget and vons pavilions (beach and heil..) it was really good food with live music.
right by lazy dog cafe.
I just ate at the new restaurant downtown called 25 degrees. It's an upscale burger joint and I can honestly say it was the best burger I have ever had! Sushi on Fire on Main street is great too. Nick's on Main street in Seal Beach has the best breakfast burrito ever. Hot & Spicy Thai (Bolsa Chica and Heil) is great. Finally if you have not eaten at El Torito GRILL in Newport, you have to.
Have you ever tried Mangia Mangia off of Goldenwest and Edinger? It's a hole in the wall place that has really good food. It's by the Papa Johns. They are two brothers who came from Italy with their grandma's recipes. Just a thought. Also, George's Thai Bistro by South Coast Plaza is pretty awesome. I stick with the ginger chicken, but I hear the other stuff is pretty good. This is a great post cause Jarom and I are moving down to HB in 2 weeks! I'll have to try all these restaurants.
I grew up going to some pretty amazing places. My Parents have really distinguished taste and they made sure that food was something we learned to love and appreciate as they did.
First off there is this amazing place called McDonalds, its on Edinger but I hear there are a few other locations as well. Great pie's too!
Secondly we love Jack in the Box. Now its a little pricey but well worth it. They have some amazing Chinese food, try their egg rolls. And their mexican tacos are a great buy as well. Very authentic. But thats typical for Southern California.
Seriously though, I am no food connoisseur but we love The Fish Company in Los Alimitos by Rossmore. They have the best claim chowder I have ever had. Also we've been a fan of Pedro's for decades. Cheap and delicious! Its in San Clemente.
Lastly we love a good burger and fries from TK Burger for a quick stop.
I have loved reading everyones lists, great ideas!
Ok, so as already said, Basilico's is delicious!! Also, Matsu's is my favorite! That is up on Talbert and Beach. There is this thai food place in Laguna a few streets after Broadway. Sorry, I have no idea what the name of it is and am not sure if it is till there. It is a hole in the wall, but super delicious. I also like Corner Bakery for a nice lunch. That is about all I can think of. If I think of nay more I will let you know. :)
Some of my favs have already been listed, but I will repeat cause they are soooo good!
Open Sesame in Long Beach, 2nd street
Los Alamitos fish company, Los AL
Walt Wharf in Seal Beach
Cafe Panini, newport beach
Sarah,
Try a little place called The Creperie in Long beach on 2nd street. The carbonara crepe is wonderful! It's a little cafe with a Bohemian feel. VERY GOOD!
